A profile on Histon FC

As part of the documentary, I will be visiting one of my local clubs, Histon FC, to find out what their red and black strip really means to them.

Histon Football Club was founded in 1904, spending over 44 years in the Cambridgeshire Football League and 35 years in the Eastern Counties League. Currently playing in the United Counties League Premier Division South, they are regarded as a step 5 side, which is the 9th tier in the English Football Pyramid.

Bridge Road, August 2023

Located in Impington, a village on the Northern outskirts of Cambridge, the home of Histon FC (known as the Stutes) is Bridge Road. This 4300 capacity ground has 1700 covered seats, with the main grandstand named after Steve Fallon, whose achievements as Manager between 1999 and 2010 helped the club reach the Conference National League in 2007. The current manager of the men's first team, Chris Nunn, joined the club from AFC Rushden & Diamonds in October, while Chairman John Hall, who oversees the running of the club, with a Board of Directors, started his second stint in this role in June 2022.

Within the documentary I will be speaking to Paul Smart, who has worked as the club's Finance Director for over a year now. I will be looking to ask him how important their shirt is for the club to stay alive and what sort of an impact shirt sponsorship has on the them.

Stay tuned!
